What are grocers looking for in Point of Sale?

Today, grocers pay more attention to systems that increase sales and gross profit.  It may be as simple as looking at customer count and dollars per customer this year compared to last year.  Others are looking for more tools to manage movement and pricing.  The goal for most is to have a better way to see inventory values and calculate more precise profit each week.  The more advanced grocers are implementing transaction based promotions to drive up average sales by 10% or more.
